Shopping for a new car this President’s Day weekend? Looking for great deals? Good News Garage, a program of Lutheran Social Services, has one for you: donate your old car, van or truck – running or not – and we’ll tow it free charge. Not only will you receive a generous tax deduction, you’ll help transport a low-income New England family toward self-sufficiency.
Good News Garage, a trusted New England non-profit with a 15 year history, accepts, repairs and provides reliable donated vehicles to people in need. All donations to Good News Garage qualify for a tax deduction ranging from $500 to the vehicle’s fair market value, the highest deduction allowed by the IRS for vehicle donations. This amount is often more than the trade-in offered by dealers. Now that’s a great deal!
Since 1996, Good News Garage, a program of Lutheran Social Services, has awarded more than 3,800 refurbished vehicles to New England families in need. Over 90 percent of Good News Garage clients are single mothers who are employed or are enrolled in a job training program and do not have an operating vehicle in the household.
“Prior to this day, I traveled three hours each way to work by bus leaving me little time with my three children. I can now go to school or have a second job. I can bring my kids to the park or the mall. I’m thrilled, grateful and very thankful,” wrote Nicole, a grateful Good News Garage vehicle recipient.
