Vermont - Car Donation Drop-off Day is December 30

Good News Garage, a program of Lutheran Social Services, will be hosting its second Annual Car Donation Drop-off Day on Wednesday, December 30.  On this day Good News Garage will accept ANY car, truck, or van delivered to its 331 North Winooski Avenue Burlington, Vermont location.

The age and condition of your vehicle do not matter. Good News Garage will accept it. Vehicle donations must be accompanied by their Title.  All vehicle donations received before the end of the year will be eligible for a 2009 tax deduction.

On December 30, Good News Garage will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.! Homemade cookies and Vermont cider will be on hand for donors’ enjoyment. An earth-friendly thank-you mug will be given out to donors and supporters.

To expedite the donation process, Good News Garage encourages donors to submit their car’s information prior to delivering it. Donors may do this by using our online car donation form or by calling toll-free 877.448.3288. Providing your vehicle’s information beforehand is not required but is highly recommended.

“This is a win-win situation for everyone,” stated Michael Muzzy, Good News Garage’s program director “Donors receive a tax deduction and Good News Garage can assist more families with their transportation needs.”

After your Title has been signed over, the donation process is complete. The next step is for Good News Garage’s auto technicians to evaluate the donated vehicle and decide how it can best be utilized.

There are two ways Good News Garage can use the donated vehicle:  1) recondition the vehicle and place it with a low-income working person: 2) if repairs are too expensive or if it is a luxury car, sell it at auction, using the funds raised to support our programs.

All donors will be informed of the disposition of their vehicle, and will receive a letter tax letter within 60 days of your donation. All car, truck and van donations are tax deductible regardless of how Good News Garage uses it.

Good News Garage’s mission is to create economic opportunity by providing affordable and reliable transportation options for people in need. Lutheran Social Services has many other programs throughout New England; to learn more visit  www.lssne.org.
