How do I transfer ownership to Good News Garage Vermont?

Once Good News Garage Vermont accepts your vehicle, you will need to transfer ownership to Good News Garage. The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles has very strict rules of procedure regarding Titles.

In Vermont

·   If the vehicle is 16 years old or older, you are permitted to transfer ownership with a Bill of Sale. A Bill of Sale form is available on the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles website.www.dmv.state.vt.us You can fill it in online, print it and sign it on the bottom.

·   If the vehicle is 15 years old or newer, you are required to transfer ownership with the Certificate of Title. If you cannot find your Title, you can request a duplicate title from the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles.  A Duplicate Title Application is available on the Vermont DMV website. (Title replacement takes at least 2 weeks.)

Signing your Title is easy and simple:

1.      Look at the front and note how your name is listed, and the order of names if there are two owners.

2.      Do not make any marks or writing on the front of the title. If your address or name is now different, do not make any changes.

3.      On the back of the title you will enter your signature in

(1)   ASSIGNMENT OF OWNERSHIP

It is very important that you only write in the

Seller’s Signature line and the Printed Name line next to it. Please sign your name(s), in the order they appear on the front of the title. Then print your name(s). Write in the date. You’re done!

If your name has changed, you are required to sign the title with the name that appears on the front. We will have your present name and current address in our database.

Please leave the odometer statement blank!

Do not check the little boxes unless there is something wrong with your odometer.
