Burlington, VT - Families across Vermont are in critical need of transportation, and it's outpacing vehicle donations to the charitable group Good News Garage.

"We're really down on vehicle donations," said Amy Barcomb, assistant director of operations at Good News Garage.  "We're about a third below what we received last year."

The organization was hoping to collect 550 cars between November and December, but have only received a few more than 250 as of Wednesday. They're always accepting used and unwanted cars.

People who donate their cars are eligible for the state's charitable contribution tax, which takes 5% off of your taxes.
